Last week we went over two healthy cooking oils, Olive oil and Flaxseed oil in our blog Healthy Cooking Oil - Part 1. This week we are going to talk about two other popular cooking oils, sesame seed oil and sunflower seed oil. These two were chosen specifically for their notably high antioxidant properties and are very beneficial and healthy oils for heart health.

Sesame oil
Sesame oil is full of powerful antioxidants and is very nutrient-rich. It can be used for high-heat cooking such as sauteing. It contains omega-6 fatty acids which is a heart-healthy fat that is helpful in combating coronary disease. One of the antioxidants that sesame oil contains is vitamin E, these antioxidants help remove free-radical cells from the body that can become cancerous.

Sunflower oil
Sunflower oil is another oil that contains lots of vitamin E antioxidants. It also helps reduce the risk of coronary problems, as it naturally lowers cholesterol. Your body needs cholesterol in certain amounts but too much can lead to a heart attack or other coronary illnesses. Sunflower oil contains linoleic acid which is a polyunsaturated fat. Polyunsaturated fats are omega 3 or omega 6 fatty acids that are very good for you and should be consumed on a regular basis in your diet.
