Navy Beans - Simple Prep Yum

Navy beans are nutritious, filling, and make a great base dish. Navy beans are high in potassium, magnesium, and fiber, making them very heart-healthy. They can be used for soup, bean dip, chili, or just eaten plain.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup navy beans
  • pinch of salt
  • 4 cups water

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Inspect navy beans and remove any impure beans, then rinse navy beans and let them soak overnight.
  • Strain the beans in a colander and place them in a pot on the stove. Add the water and salt to the pot and bring to a boil.
  • Once it has reached a boil, turn off the heat and cover the pot with a lid. Let beans sit for 2-5 hours.
  • Turn on heat and bring to a simmer on medium-high heat for about an hour or until tender. Enjoy!
