Quick Tikka Masala

Quick Tikka Masala (20 min) Hearty, warming, and bursting with flavor, this tikka masala is perfect for Sunday dinner, and it is sure to be a hit! Tumeric can help with inflammation, and it also serves as a powerful antioxidant. BSF Kitchen Test:03/03/18 Ingredients(makes 8 servings): For marinating the chicken:

  • 24 ounces chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 2 cups greek yogurt
  • 2 Tbsp. garam masala
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 4 tsp. ground pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

For sauce:

  • 2 15oz cans of tomato sauce
  • 4 cups heavy cream
  • 10 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 8 tsp. garam masala (make with Be Still farms Turmeric)
  • 2 tsp. paprika
  • 1 tsp. salt

For serving

  • Stovetop Brown Basmati Rice
  • Green Onions, chopped (optional)
Cooking Instructions:
  • Mix together all the marinade ingredients, add the chicken, and let sit in the fridge for one hour.
  • Add the chicken to a large pan over medium-high heat, and cook for about five minutes, or until the chicken is almost cooked through.
  • Reduce to medium heat, and add the garlic and butter. Cook for about a minute, then add heavy cream, tomato sauce, garam masala, paprika, and salt.
  • Mix well and bring back up to a boil. Decrease to medium-low, and let it simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Serve with rice and green onions, if desired. Enjoy!

 

Turmeric Chai Latte

Healthy Turmeric Chai Latte This Chai Latte is spice-filled and cheerful, and wonderfully warming on a cold, rainy day, that once you make it, you won't want to drink any other kind of chai! Turmeric is a great natural anti-inflammatory, and it can be very helpful to those with arthritis.

Ingredients(makes 2 servings): Mix
  • 3 Tbsp. ground turmeric
  • 4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp. ground allspice
  • 1 tsp. ground cardamom
  • 2 tsp. ground ginger

Tea

  • 2 tsp. turmeric spice mix
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 1-3 tsp. sucanat
  • 1/4-1/2 cup milk

Cooking Instructions

  • Pour boiling water over spice mix in a heatproof glass container, and let steep for up to ten minutes.
  • Strain into mugs, and add sucanat and milk (froth if desired). Enjoy!

 

Red Lentil Stew- Vegan

Vegan Argentinian Red Lentil Stew- Vegan Hearty, flavorful, and full of spices, this soup is just the thing on a rainy winter day, and it is especially delicious beefed up with a scoop of rice! Red lentils are full of protein, fiber, and iron, and with the rice, it makes a complete protein. BSF Kitchen Test:01/10/18 Ingredients(makes 8 servings):

  • 3 Tbsp. coconut oil
  • 2 large yellow onions
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tsp. turmeric
  • 2 tsp. cumin
  • 2 15 oz. cans diced tomatoes
  • 7 cups vegetable stock
  • 1 1/2 cups uncooked red lentils
  • 6 cups chopped kale, stems removed
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste
  • Stovetop Rice (optional, for serving)
Cooking Instructions:
  • Heat the oil over medium heat, in a large pot Saute onions and garlic until onions are translucent.
  • Pour in cumin and turmeric, and continue to stir for about a minute.
  • Stir in vegetable stock, lentils, and tomatoes until well-combined, and bring to a boil.
  • Bring heat down to low, and leave it uncovered for about twenty minutes, or until lentils are cooked.
  • Take the stew off heat, and stir in the lemon juice and kale. Season with salt and pepper according to taste.
  • Serve immediately, with rice, if desired.

 

Choco-Turmeric Cake

Chocolate-Turmeric Marble Cake - Vegan This chocolate-turmeric cake makes a wonderful dessert, but can also double as a filling snack! Turmeric has many uses, but it is especially helpful as an anti-inflammatory, and it also tastes delicious! BSF Kitchen Test:01/11/18 Ingredients(makes 16 servings): Wet Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup pumpkin puree (unsweetened)
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 3 Tbsp. coconut oil (melted)
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup sucanat

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups soft white wheat flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/3 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. ginger cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • Dash of allspice
  • Dash of nutmeg
For Turmeric Layer
  • 1 tsp. ground turmeric
  • 1 tsp. water

For Chocolate Layer

  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 2 Tbsp. warm water
  • Chocolate chips (optional)

Cooking Instructions:

  • Preheat the oven to 365°, and grease a 16x16" pan with coconut oil.
  • Combine wet ingredients in a medium bowl until sugar is well-combined.
  • Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl, add the wet ingredients, and mix until there are no longer flour streaks throughout the batter.
  • Separate the batter evenly into two bowls. Add the turmeric and water to one, and to the other add the cocoa powder, chocolate chips, and water.
  • Pour half of the chocolate batter into the greased pan, smooth out and pour half of the turmeric batter on top. Repeat once, and sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  • Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until a toothpick poked into the center comes out clean.
  • Cool completely, and serve as a snack, or with non-dairy ice cream for a delicious dessert.
